DESCRIPTION

Trumpet Creeper is a fast growing deciduous vine that has aerial roots that allow it to attach to support structures. Under favorable conditions it will establish dense colonies and may require measures to keep it under control. The red tubular flowers start showing in June and keep developing until fall. The flowers are very attractive to hummingbirds. The fruit capsule produces many winged seeds. The leaves are pinnately compound and divided into multiple leaflets with toothed margins (see image 3). One of the common names for this plant is "cow itch". The leaves have a substance that causes mild skin irritation. .
