DESCRIPTION

The Duchman's Breeches plant has very unusual blooms and characteristic lacy leaves. Colonies of leaves are seen before and after flowering. The common name is derived from the supposed resemblance of the puffy blooms to upside down Dutch pants. This plant is rare in the local Huntsville area, but is numerous on certain mountains northeast of Huntsville and also in a few places in the Sipsey Wilderness. .
