Tickseed belongs to the Sunflower Family. . It grows to the height of two to three feet tall, and has a slender stem. The stem and leaves are hairy. The opposite stemless leaves are each divided into 3 segments, which gives the appearance of 6 whorled leaves, hense the name "whorled tickseed". The flower, not shown in the picture, is a typical sunflower type, smaller than some.
