Phacelia (Phacelia bipinnatifidais) is a tall growing plant that can be somewhat weedy and forms large colonies. It has numerous blue cup shaped flowers with yellow anthers. The leaves are deeply serrated. Another name for the plant is Scorpion Weed.
Phacelea is found in scattered places on the North plateau trail on the western section, north of Nolen Drive. It is also found at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Cave Mountain the TVA nature area near Guntersville Dam has massive colonies. It is often seen on rocky ledges.
